Compare thickness fairly
Ask whether a published number describes a wall, back panel or maximum exterior depth. A camera surround, button cover or magnetic ring can sit beyond that measurement. Without a shared method, a 0.2 mm listing and a 0.76 mm listing are two claims to investigate, not a measured ranking of how the fitted phones feel.
For your own record, note the case model and measure the same points with the same method if you have suitable tools. Keep maximum depth at the camera separate from back-panel thickness. Record whether the phone is installed.
Check the commute before judging the case
