Compare thickness fairly
Ask whether a published number describes a wall, back panel or maximum exterior depth. A camera surround, button cover or magnetic ring can sit beyond that measurement. Without a shared method, a 0.2 mm listing and a 0.76 mm listing are two claims to investigate, not a measured ranking of how the fitted phones feel.
For your own record, note the case model and measure the same points with the same method if you have suitable tools. Keep maximum depth at the camera separate from back-panel thickness. Record whether the phone is installed. We have not collected those measurements for this shortlist.
Check the commute before judging the case
- Confirm the phone: match iPhone 17 Pro exactly, including the selected variant at checkout. A listing covering multiple phone families can change when a color is selected.
- Check the fitted edges: on a clean flat surface, inspect screen and camera clearance with your actual screen protector installed. Lip claims do not settle that combination.
- Try controls and cables: check Camera Control, buttons and the USB-C plug through the case opening. Do not force a connector.
- Check your normal pocket: over a safe surface, try inserting and removing the phone with an empty pocket. This records your handling experience, not a universal grip score.

What can we say about protection?
These records do not support a comparative drop-protection result. Material names, a thin profile or a flexible frame alone cannot tell us which of these cases absorbs more impact. We have removed the earlier “best overall” and cushioning rankings because the page did not contain the evidence needed to support them.
If drops are central to your buying decision, ask for the test method, exact case and phone, surfaces, heights and outcome criteria behind a manufacturer's claim. Compare like conditions.
