The Spigen Liquid Air makes sense if you want a textured, opaque case and do not use magnetic accessories. The Matte Black version, ASIN B0FD2HG9F4, was $16.99 and No. 40 in Amazon's Cell Phone Basic Cases Best Sellers list when we checked on October 4, 2026. That puts it on our research shortlist. It does not tell us how well it survives a fall.
The limitation to settle before buying is MagSafe. The Amazon listing says this version supports wireless charging but is not compatible with MagSafe chargers and accessories. If your phone lives on a magnetic car mount, this would be a poor choice for that setup. This review uses published product information; we have not handled, charged through or drop-tested the case.
Match the Pro variant before ordering
The Amazon product page names both iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro in its title and compatibility bullet. Our coverage is limited to that specific Matte Black listing. Pro Max is a different selection. Check the complete phone model in your order, even if the color and product-family name look right.
Spigen's Liquid Air family page has separate device selections and opens on Pro Max. We have left its displayed dimensions and weight out of this Pro review. A measurement from the larger version would give you a misleading idea of pocket bulk. The shared family name alone is also no reason to reuse an older case on a new phone.
What the texture gives you to consider
Amazon describes a TPU body with diagonal Droid-pattern texturing. The advertised purpose is better grip. That is a useful feature to look for if a smooth-backed case keeps shifting in your hand, although the pattern cannot tell us how this one feels with damp fingers or how easily it slides out of jeans. Those are handling questions we have not tested.
The opaque Matte Black finish covers the phone's color. Someone buying a case to show off the phone should consider a clear design instead. For a commuter who wants a plain cover, the texture is the more relevant reason to consider Liquid Air. We would check its feel after delivery before deciding that the grip claim solves a particular problem.
The manufacturer describes a thin TPU covering over Camera Control in this product family. Test the controls you actually use while the case is fitted. A button can be covered and still feel different under a thumb; we have no measured response or handling result for this variant.
Wireless charging does not settle accessory fit
The listing's wireless-charging claim comes with an explicit exclusion for MagSafe chargers and accessories, and the bestseller entry labels the case as having no magnet. We would follow that exclusion when choosing a charger or mount. We cannot promise that a particular MagSafe puck will charge through it, or that any magnetic attachment will hold securely.
For someone who plugs in a cable and carries the phone without a wallet attached to its back, that restriction may have little effect. If you already own several magnetic accessories, buying a case intended for them is the more straightforward choice. Our phone-case index separates reviews by phone model so you can compare the correct size before comparing features.
How much protection can we claim?
Amazon describes Air Cushion corners and a raised lip around the camera. The lip is intended to keep the camera area away from a flat surface. The listing also uses military-grade protection language, but we did not verify an independent test report for this exact item. We have no basis for quoting a survival height or ranking its impact performance against another case.
If you need a documented drop standard, ask for the test conditions and exact model covered by the report. The brand name of a corner design cannot answer those questions. A bestseller position cannot answer them either: No. 40 is the position observed during this check, not a unit-sales total or a protection score.
Is it worth the observed $16.99?
For a buyer who wants an opaque textured case and charges by cable, Liquid Air is a reasonable candidate at that observed price. For a buyer whose daily setup depends on MagSafe, its stated compatibility limit is enough to look elsewhere. Check the current price and seller's return terms before ordering; the amount recorded here may change.
Keep the packaging while you check fit, the cable opening and the controls after delivery. If you plan to use ordinary wireless charging, try your actual charger on a stable surface and confirm that charging begins normally. We have no charging-speed result to substitute for that check.
